Microcredentials aren't common yet but they're growing fast as a quick way to boost skills. A standardised approach could help them go mainstream.
Lena Patterson
Lena Patterson, EdD, is the Assistant, Dean, Programs, at The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). She was formerly the Program Director, Microcredentials, responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the new program area since its inception in 2021. Lena served as President of the Ontario Council of University Lifelong Learning (OCULL), Co-Chair of the Council for Credential Innovation (CCI) at UPCEA, and President of the Open Education Global (OEG) Board of Directors. In 2020, Lena served on the UNESCO global expert panel to move towards a common definition of micro-credentials.
